Obituary for Frederick Williamson Gordon

January 29th, 2023, in his 80th year, Fred received the gift of a beautiful, peaceful passing at home after a battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loving family and friends. A supporter of M.A.I. D., he was guided by his angels of mercy, Dr. Sharon Buehner and Dr. Heather O’Brien, to be reunited with his beloved daughter, Shirley-Lynne Kimbrought (late Randal). He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sandra (Nee Corcoran).

Fred was the son of the late Irene Taylor Gordon, the late Forbas Gordon and step-son of the late Len Malo. He was the son-in-law of the late Bill and Bernice Corcoran.
He is survived by his sister Shirley Jackson and sisters-in-law Doreen Gordon (late James) and Linda Dearing (late Brian) and his brothers-in-law Bill Corcoran (May) of Kingston, Peter (Christine) of Ottawa, Pat (Pauline Leger) of Bowmanville, Tim (late Nancy) of Peterbrough and Chris and Gae Corcoran of Toronto. Fred was uncle to many wonderful nieces and nephews and many young people that he considered as close family.

Having worked at Algoma Steel for 30 years, he was blessed with a long retirement. He loved his hobby farm which included purebred birds, fancy chickens, swans, and peacocks. Being owner of Chicivin Kennels, he showed and bred purebred dogs which led to a 31-year career judging for the Canadian Kennel Club. He was proud to have travelled all across Canada and around the world meeting forever friends. He was a founding member of the S.S.M. Kennel Club and an original supporter of The Group Health Centre.

As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private ceremony has already been celebrated. There will be no further services.

Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation are extended to his caregivers: Dr. Rassouli, Lawson and Jen of the Cancer Care Clinic, Dr. Bishop, Gabriel (3rd floor nursing), Bayshore nurses Rochelle, Monica and Dawn, P.S.W. Carolyn, Co-ordinator Keri-Lynne from Soo Medical, Lisa Damignani and staff from O’Sullivan Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Sault Area Hospital Foundation Cancer Care Fund, Arch, Group Health Centre Trust Fund (payable online or by cheque) or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Fred lived life as a gift and embraced his passing as he had lived.
