Obituary for Owen Roswell MacKay
Owen R. MacKay passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, in his 98th year. Loving partner and husband of Kay Snell-MacKay (Cole) for 46 years. Cherished Father of Bruce MacKay (Debbie), Grandfather of Kate MacKay (Don Lickers) and Great Grandfather of Lexi MacKay. Brother of the late Winton MacKay (Doris) and Joyce Grady. Affectionately remembered by many nieces and nephews. Owen will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his extended family: Mark Snell (Cathy), Marsha Wright (Bruce). Special Grandpa to Aaron Wright (Rayna), Travis Wright (Julia), Christopher and Caroline Snell and Philip Howard. Owen will be sadly missed by friends from Elliot Lake, Manitoulin Island and St. Joe’s Island.
Owen worked as a certified stationary engineer and electrician. He loved the Outdoors and enjoyed camping, canoeing, kayaking and back packing. He had artistic talents such as bird carving and paintings that filled their home. His hobbies included model trains and airplanes.

Bev Nott has gone above and beyond as Owen’s personal care provider attending to every need he might have had. Your care and compassion have been truly appreciated.
To honour Owen’s wishes, a private family graveside gathering only will take place. Donations in Owen’s memory can be made to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation (payable online or by cheque) or charity of your choice.
