Obituary for Paul Lewis Bardell

Passed away at the Sault Area Hospital at the age of 86.  Beloved brother of Francesca Bombardelli, Elisa Bombardelli Masetta (Franco), Ines Bombardelli Furter (Walter), Carla Bombardelli, Ernesta Bombardelli, Ernesto Bombardelli, Aldo Bombardelli (deceased), Bruno Bombardelli (deceased),and Luigia Bombardelli (deceased).  Special and beloved uncle to Leonardo Lattisi and many others.  Paul will be remembered by friends Bruno Rudolph, Dieter Von Richter, Daniella Martin Hoffmann and Bryan Dumanski and their families. Many in Sault Ste. Marie’s downtown area, the Soup Kitchen and St. Vincent’s Place will also feel his absence. Paul was a bricklayer by trade and a gifted stone artist. Anyone who had the opportunity to converse with Paul quickly realized he was an extremely well-read man with a passion for History.  He lived and worked throughout Europe, namely Italy, Germany, France and Switzerland before he moved to Canada in 1964.   Paul was a philanthropist of several children organizations, enjoyed writing in three languages to friends around the world and enjoyed countless hours of reading at the public library, bicycling and walking. He was also a dedicated and avid philatelist. Paul had a passion for life, seeing the abstract in the simple, and beauty where others did not. He will be missed.  Donations may be made to St. Vincent’s Place or The Soup Kitchen in his honour. Paul was buried at the New Greenwood Cemetery in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
